 Puna y Quebrada de Humahuaca - 2 days

 

The outstanding Puna with its untouched landscapes, the Salt lake and the most famous Argentinean ravine.

Day 1: This tour to the Puna goes along the railway of the “Tren a Las Nubes”, it includes a guided tour around the archaeological site Ruinas de Tastil, Abra Blanca (4080 m. above sea level, San Antonio de Los Cobres, Ruta 40 north bound through the Puna up to Salinas Grandes where we visit the salt lake, we leave the Puna through a mountain pass 4170 m. above sea level and we descend 2000 m. in 35 km. along Cuesta de Lipan down to the small town of Purmamarca where we visit Cerro de Siete Colores, Paseo de Los Colorados, the handcrafts market and we spend the night in Purmamarca.


Day 2: Tour around Quebrada de Humahuaca, we visit all the small towns and stop at awesome panoramic views, in the small town of Uquia we visit the ancient church which guards the famous paintings of the Harquebusier Angels and a vicuña farm, we also visit Humahuaca town, Tilcara including a guided tour to the ruins of the archaeological site Pucara de Tilcara, Maimara and Tumbaya, we tour jujuy city and then we drive back to Salta along Camino de cornisa, going through a cloudy forest or yunga area.

 

 

 Alternatives

 

Valles Calchaquies 2 or 3 days and Puna y Quebrada 2 or 3 days is the most complete combination to know the region.
